Welcome to hexistove.co.uk – the home of information about hexi stoves, solid fuel stoves, fuel pellets and everything else related to the brilliant fold up cookers!
If you just want to order that is fine. You can buy a hexi stove here (via Amazon) in the UK. Our site provides useful information about Hexi Stoves, how to use them and their alternatives.
What are hexi stoves used for?
Hexi Stoves (also known as hexamine stoves, solid fuel stoves and solid fuel cookers) make a great alternative to stoves that require gas canisters. This makes them ideal for cooking at festivals where gas canisters have been banned. They are also used by campers, fishermen and survival enthusiasts.
What is a hexi stove?
Put simply they are small metal cookers that fold out on legs to provide a cooking area. They pack away neatly into a small lightweight box. Once opened you insert solid fuel hexamine tablets or pellets into the open area. You then light the tablets with matches or a lighter and cook by placing your pan or mess tin on top of the cooker. If you require more heat you simply add more tablets.
The main advantages are that that they are lightweight, cheap and relatively safe compared to cookers that use gas canisters. We go into more depth on the advantages here.
There are of course some down sides to using one (which we explain in the article linked to above) but luckily there are plenty of other methods of cooking outdoors should you decide you don’t want to cook in this way. We explain the various alternatives here.
Given we are enthusiasts on this method of cooking we are of course obviously slightly biased towards the humble hexi burner. We hope to convey the simple joys of cooking in the open air on a hexi stove. We love the experience and hope you’ll find it equally enjoyable.
